Final-year production example, built in the last year of the model's 1975–1984 run
Rare example of a motorcycle featuring a hydraulic automatic transmission with torque converter
Historically significant model, famously used by the Italian Corazzieri for presidential escort duties
Road-registered in Italy
The Appeal
Conceived by the legendary engineer Lino Tonti at the behest of Alejandro de Tomaso, Moto Guzzi V1000 I-Convert was designed as a maxi grand tourer with an automatic transmission: a radical concept for a large-capacity motorcycle in the mid-1970s. Its hydraulic torque-converter gearbox offered two speeds: a low gear suited to ceremonial crawling and a high gear capable of approximately 180 km/h. As the flagship of the Moto Guzzi range, the Italian Corazzieri, the presidential guard, selected it to escort the head of state during official parades, cementing its place in both motorcycling and Italian cultural history.
This 1984 example is from the very last year of production, powered by the 949cc V-twin producing 61 HP and driving through the characteristic shaft final drive. Finished in black with a full fairing, it shows 52,600 km on the odometer. IMG_3680.JPG3.66 MB
