Motodrome are pleased to offer this 1973 example of the stately Rover P5b Coupe, finished in it’s original colour scheme of Arden Green.
All P5B’s, with the Rover V8 motor, automatic transmission, PAS, and decent brakes, are supremely useable for a classic car, and this one has also been fitted with thermostatically controlled cooling fan, rear seat belts, and electric fuel pump. It also has a period radio, front and rear headrests, and a matching set of 4 whitewall tyres on the correct Rostyle rims. The tyres were new in 2019. The dashboard – mounted toolkit is all present and correct.
Body – car was repainted in the original colour in 2004, and bar some age-related blemishes, still looks very smart with nice shutlines etc.
Chrome – all very good indeed, especially the mazak parts.
Interior – looks largely original and nicely patinated – no split stitching etc. Small repair carried out to base of upper bolster on drivers seat as is very common. Good carpets and headlining, and nice wood.
Mechanics – drives very well indeed, with no misfiring, hesitancy or overheating, smooth gearbox, nice steering and brakes etc.
This is a very late P5b and is apparently the 185th from last one built. It was originally supplied to the Midlands Electricity Board who kept it for the first 5 years. It then had 2 further owners until 1997 when it was exported to Holland, and registered there as RB-HS-68
It remained in Holland until 2004 when it was re-imported by Hurst Park Automobiles and reunited with it’s original registration number, and has remained in the UK since.
Current odometer reading 6000 miles which we think is really 106000, so it’s being sold as ‘mileage incorrect’ to avoid any misunderstandings
History-wise we have a massive folder of bills and correspondence back to the late 1970’s, old MOT’s etc dating back to at least 1989, the original ‘passport to service’ and book pack, heritage certificate, a nice hand written log etc. Also comes with a box full of spares.
Whilst it’s now MOT exempt, I’m pleased to say it is MOT’d until September 2022 , with no advisories. And of course it’s tax, ULEZ, and LEZ exempt as well.
