1992 Citroen BX 17TZD. had MOT until November 18. Has 1. 9 turbo-diesel engine from 1995 Peugeot 306, which burns virtually no oil. Electric sunroof and electric windows all operational. Hydraulic system working well, (although with a small leak). Very good starter. Very little rust. One owner since 2001. £700 spent in last 9 months including new cambelt and glow plugs. Black Velour Upholstery and interior in good condition. Good tyres, Heavy duty Varta battery. Bodywork in good shape, but some damage to both bumpers.
Unfortunately, there is bubbling in the cooling system which suggests a blown head gasket. Also, the cooling fans don't seem to be working.
Indicated mileage is 141, 000 but speedo not working for 4 years, during which it's done no more than 15, 000 miles.
The 1. 9td engine was fitted 6 years ago from a Peugeot 316 which had covered 71, 000 miles, and has done about 25, 000 since then. Both fuel lines have been replaced as has one of the rigid hydraulic pipes underneath. New clutch was fitted during engine change, together with new oil seals for gearbox. New suspension spheres were fitted 3 years ago.
Reluctant sale due to the impending ULEZ zone, and a back that's not much good for bending over an engine compartment for too long! . An excellent restoration project as it's one of the 2 sought-after models in the BX range, alongside the GTI.
Also have a number of spares available and a spares car, a 1987 BX 16 TRS, which has been off the road for 15 years, extra price negotiable.
