L'Attrait

La Bentley S2 a remplacé le six cylindres en ligne de la S1 par un V8 aluminium de 6,2 litres partagé avec la Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II, offrant un bond notable en performances et en raffinement dans l'identité plus sportive de Bentley.
Cet exemplaire, châssis numéro B413CT, a été fabriqué en novembre 1960 en version UK et exporté neuf vers les États-Unis, où il a servi de transport personnel pour Sir Howard Beale, l'Ambassadeur d'Australie à Washington pendant l'ère Kennedy. Après la retraite de Sir Howard, la voiture l'a accompagné à Sydney où elle a continué à être utilisée par son chauffeur. Elle passa ensuite à Eric Goudie, Secrétaire de la branche Canberra du Rolls-Royce Owners Club of Australia, qui la conserva jusqu'à son décès en 2006.
Après avoir été exportée en Italie, la voiture a fait l'objet d'une refonte extensive comprenant une réfection de la peinture et une retravaillée en ce qui est déclaré comme le coloris Velvet Green et crème d'origine, ainsi que des rebuilds du moteur et de la boîte de vitesses. Depuis son arrivée au Royaume-Uni, d'autres interventions mécaniques ont été réalisées comme détaillé ci-dessous. Le vendeur indique que la voiture a parcouru environ 5 000 miles au cours des 14 dernières années depuis la reconstruction du moteur, y compris un récent tour du sud de la France où le vendeur rapporte qu'elle a bien tenu les autoroutes à vitesse élevée.
Ayant passé une grande partie de sa vie dans le climat sec d'Australie, cette S2 offre l'occasion d'acquérir un exemple bien documenté et bien entretenu de l'une des berlines Bentley les plus raffinées de l'après-guerre.
