The Appeal
It’s no surprise to learn that this 1973 T2 attracts admiring glances and comments when it rolls up at camp sites and festivals. It is a really tidy, pleasingly original example of one of those most perenially loved vehicles in four wheeled history.
‘Delilah’ was restored some years ago and repainted in the classic baby blue and white colour scheme you see in the photos. Since the vendor bought the van in late 2013 it has received further localised bodywork and paint repairs and continues to present in good order. As always with a T2 of this age, there are a few points to note in the photos.
Inside the layout and furniture are said to be original, and are in good condition. The floors, door cards and seats have been refreshed and there are new curtains too. Beneath the rock and roll bed there is a reconditioned 1.6L flat four engine, It was fitted in 2024 and we’re told has only covered 150 miles of the 500 mile running in period.
For enthusiasts of original, unmodified bay window T2s, this much-loved example feels like the kind of van you hope to find.
The vendor says:
“A wonderful campervan experience. Really draws the crowds at festivals etc. Loves the open road. Great to cook in and double rock n' roll bed very comfy. A cosy experience at night and a great van for outdoor entertaining (fold-out shelves for drinks etc). Have taught in her during summer term at school as well as camping and festivals. I am very sad to be selling.”
