The Appeal 

As the sun finally comes out from behind the clouds it is time to get behind the wheel of a convertible, so why not make it this mechanically looked after example? 

The History and Paperwork 

• This car first hit the roads in April 1990  
• It has then gone on to experience a few owners 
• There is a fair amount of paperwork present  
• MOT certificates and older invoices can be found in the included binder 
• The original handbooks are still present 
• Recently the current owner has spent a lot of the car’s mechanical elements 
• The following items were replaced/renewed 
• Oil, with a new filter 
• Timing belt, including tensioner and idler roller  
• Cam idler roller 
• Balance belt gear 
• Camshaft sliding shoe set 
• All other auxiliary belts  
• Water pump 
• Air and fuel filters  
• Spark plugs 
• Anti-freeze 
• Front discs and pads  
• Wishbone joints  
• New track rod ends 
• Rear tyres  
• The brakes were serviced with the hoses being replaced 
• It now runs and drives very well for a 30-year-old car  
• Now its time for you to hop in, get the roof down, and drive off into the sunset 

 

The Interior 

• The interior of this 944 is a lovely place to be 
• The original black leather interior has aged well  
• Upfront the bucket-like seats hold you snuggly on a drive  
• There is some wear to the driver’s side bolster, but the leather has not ripped here 
• A small area of damage can be seen on the seat base cover, it may need a small leather repair 
• The two rear seats are in very good condition  
• Importantly the black dashboard has not cracked  
• The current owner does report that the radio doesn’t work  
• There are also no speakers fitted in the door cards  
• You may spot that there isn’t an armrest on the driver’s door 
• This has been ordered – unfortunately, it hadn’t shown up in time for the photoshoot  
• From the factory, this car was fitted with electrically operated front seats 
• The driver’s seat is currently experiencing issues with the forward-back movement  
• However, it is reported that all other movements work fine  
• The passenger window is also currently not working  
• With the roof down the interior is a pleasure to sit in  
• As the weather is looking very good you should get behind the wheel of this cabriolet before it’s too late  
• Considering the age and mileage of this example the interior is in good overall condition 
• With a little bit of TLC, it will come up nicely 

The Exterior  

• Externally this 944 S2 is a purposeful looking sports car 
• Its white paint does polish up well and is very presentable  
• There are some stone chips present, but these are expected with the age 
• Its original alloys sit in very good condition  
• They are all shod in fairly new rubber 
• The pop-up headlights both work  
• Its black fabric roof is in great condition  
• There are no rips or tears present to the fabric 
• The roof quickly retracts and folds away neatly behind the rear seats 
• It can then be hidden under the rare-to-find tonneau cover  
• With the roof down the look of this 944 is complete  
• This car will look amazing sitting in your collection  
• It is also one of those cars you can’t help but look at as you walk away  
• Just imagine parking this on your drive 

 

The Mechanics  

• This is the area where this specific example will stand out from the rest 
• The current owner had poured over the mechanical condition of this car 
• They have spent a lot of money to make sure it runs and drives well  
• We listed all of the parts that have been changed in the history section  
• This now means that the car is a dream to drive  
• On the day of the photos, it was required to maneuverer around the vendors drive 
• It completed these tasks without any complaint  
• It would start the first time every time 
• The engine then idled smoothly when left running for a short period to protect the battery  
• Overall, this Porsche appears to be in very good mechanical condition
