Introduced in 1985, Yamaha’s FZ 750 was the first of the Japanese manufacturer’s bikes to feature its ‘Genesis’ design concept.
This involved an advanced liquid-cooled multi-valve engine and perimeter type steel chassis laid out in such a way as to optimise weight distribution 50:50 front and rear. It used an advanced in-line four-cylinder engine with five valves per cylinder and a six-speed sequential transmission, and was considered one of the most technologically advanced bikes of its day.
This one is a third generation FZ 750, of a specification introduced in 1989 and withdrawn at the end of 1991, which was the year in which this bike was manufactured.
The vendor is a lifelong biker with a collection including a few classic Triumphs alongside the FZ, but is reducing the size of his collection as he gets older. A matching numbers bike, the Yamaha is presented in very good order throughout. 8kZ1Wpgz2QVeOw5PZvXohoQmuNyPUYWYL58OwlJY.jpg837.96 KB
This is a cracking example of one of the most technologically interesting bikes of its era – the 20v engine and Genesis layout becoming the footprint for generations of Yamahas that followed.
It’s in excellent condition, completely original and very honest, with a genuine low mileage. A true classic sports bike of its era, and one that is sure to appreciate in value as nostalgia for the 1980s and 1990s continues to grow.
