THE APPEAL
The luxury 4x4 market has, for many years, been dominated by Range Rover. Popular the world over, this comfortable vehicle is equally capable in rural off-road environments or as stylish transportation to the theatre.
This up-market long-wheel base LSE still has all the presence and features you could ever need, offers the later ‘soft dash’ interior and desirable Brooklands body kit, and doesn’t appear to have been abused during it’s lifetime.
With good handling, V8 torque and pulling power, and bags of carrying space, this well kept example is definitely worth considering…
THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK

Registered on the 3rd June 1994, this Range Rover resided in the Hampshire suburbs during the early years of it’s life. From 2014 it moved to Leicestershire and was owned by a gentleman, and then from 2016, his partner.
Acquired in 2019, the current owner brought it back south to Dorset and is now selling simply to reduce his collection of vehicles.
In addition to the usual servicing, this Range Rover appears to have been part resprayed in 2012 and the the bonnet has also recently been repainted.
A box file contains the paperwork essentials and a host of older invoices which illustrate the consistent mileage and regular maintenance.

THE INTERIOR

The commanding seating position and all-round visibility naturally makes the Range Rover a pleasant space to travel in. The sizeable five-seater will comfortably carry the whole family and some.
This original and later ‘soft dash’ interior is in very good condition and doesn’t look like it’s been abused as a country load lugger. The steering wheel, dash, instrumentation and switchgear is all very presentable and the owner assures us that, as far as he knows, all the electrical equipment functions.
The grey leather upholstery and interior trim is generally very nice aside from a few small cracks to the wood veneer and the odd age-related scuff. LSE specifications includes central locking, twin airbags, PAS, cruise control and ABS brakes. The air-conditioning would benefit from a re-gas but the sunroof operates!.
The useful split tailgate reveals the capacious carpeted load space and contains the original spare wheel, bottle jack and tools.
THE EXTERIOR

Resplendent and indeed somewhat classy in it’s original Plymouth Blue, this long-wheel base example features the desirable and smooth body-hugging Brooklands bumpers and sill trims.
The aluminium panels, body and paintwork all appear very straight and ding-free, although there is the odd indication that it has been repainted in the past. There is some corrosion ‘popping’ through beside the rear light clusters and to the bottom of the offside rear passenger door (see photos), however the tailgate, bulkhead, wheel arches and sills look good.
The windows, mirrors, door handles and lights are fine other than a cracked nearside side light and front fog lamp lenses. An adjustable-height tow bar and electrics are fitted.
Peering underneath, we can see a degree of surface rust and the current MOT states that the “vehicle structure is corroded but structural rigidity is not significantly reduced” (see photos).
Lastly, the original 16” alloy wheel are in good condition and are shod with four matching Goodyear Wrangler AT/s tyres with plenty of tread.
THE MECHANICS

This Range Rover is fitted with the reliable and well maintained 4.2 V8 engine and 4-speed ZF automatic transmission with permanent four-wheel drive.
There are no reported mechanical issues and certainly whilst on the photoshoot, it started and ran well, the auto-box engaged smoothly and we didn’t detect any obvious exhaust smoke or high running temperature.
The factory air-suspension, light power-steering and ABS disc brakes are said to be efficient and the owner has attended to any maintenance requirements including a recent lubrication service.
SUMMARY
Nothing much comes close to the luxury and practicality of the trusted Range Rover.
The desirability of this 1993 LSE model is undoubtedly on the increase, and having been well cared for, is ready to enjoy driving, and is most definitely the “car for all reasons”.
