The Appeal

There's more to Mercedes convertibles than the SL. If you fancy four seats and one of the best-engineered chassis the world has ever seen, the W124 Cabrio is a fantastic option. Like the R129 generation SL, it features a clever 'electrohydraulic' folding soft top, and both were designed under the watchful eye of the late great Bruno Sacco.

This 1995 example is the rare and coveted Sportline variant, boasting a lowered ride height (approx. 20mm), stiffer springs/dampers, a quicker steering rack, and a smaller Sportline-specific leather steering wheel. It's a 2.2-litre four-cylinder E220, signifying it has approximately 150hp, a top speed of 128 mph, and dispatches 0-62 mph in roughly 12 seconds.

As the photographs attest, our 124 Cabrio presents exceedingly well for its age, and comes with the added benefit of a comprehensive history file, documenting its many services. This can be studied in detail in the gallery below. The all-important convertible roof is functioning correctly, and the car comes MOT tested with no advisories.
