The Appeal
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is one of the defining performance saloons of the 1990s, its reputation forged in the heat of the World Rally Championship and cemented by the success of drivers such as Tommi Mäkinen, Kenneth Eriksson and Richard Burns. Alongside Subaru’s Impreza WRX, it helped define an era of rally-inspired road cars that continues to enjoy a devoted following today.
As with many surviving examples, R953 HDL was originally delivered to Japan before later being imported to the UK. The seller acquired the car as a competition prize and describes its past as that of both a daily driver and show car.
Having fulfilled a long-held ambition to own an Evolution, the seller speaks highly of the car and its driving experience. Presented in reportedly excellent condition and benefitting from a strong enthusiast following, it offers an appealing opportunity to acquire one of the most recognisable Japanese performance cars of its generation.
