The Appeal
Tadao Baba’s brilliant Fireblade revolutionised the superbike market when it arrived in 1992. Mixing the performance of a 1,000cc bike with the sort of lightweight frame usually associated with a 600cc one gave buyers a machine that was light, handled brilliantly, delivered smooth power and all that whilst being surprisingly comfortable.
The SC33 arrived in 1996, heralding in a host of improvements that have earned this version a reputation as ‘peak’ Fireblade. 5kg was shaved off the weight, bringing it down to 180kg, the engine was enlarged and output increased to 130bhp and the frame was stiffened and fitted with improved suspension and better brakes.
This very tidy 2000 SC33 features a stand-out retro blue and red paint scheme and has been well cared for. The vendor acquired it earlier this year and has recommissioned it after a long period of storage. The work has included a major service, new chain and sprockets, plugs, coolant flush, new fork oil, carburettor balancing and valve clearances adjusted. There is also a lengthy MOT to March 2027 with no advisories.
The current keeper has done all the work so that he buyer can now thoroughly enjoy this highly rated classic superbike.
The vendor says:
“Overall in good mechanical working condition, not a pristine cosmetically but reflective of its age and use. A great sports bike with lots going for it including a retro paint scheme.”
