The Appeal
The E36 TI was BMW’s bid for hot hatch glory, a compact addition to the range that was evolved to use the highly regarded E46 platform when the new 3-Series arrived. Today these rare cars are considered the ‘hidden gem’ of the E46 range. When fitted, as here, with the grunty 2.5L 190bhp straight six they make a brilliantly entertaining and chuckable alternative to more common hot hatches.
This low mileage car has had just five keepers from new, the current one a proper enthusiast who has carefully renovated it since buying it in 2021. In 2022 at 90,000 miles it received a serious going over, including changing all fluids across engine, gearbox, differential, brakes and cooling system. The brake discs and pads were changed and Bilstein B4 suspension struts all-round. The wheels were refurbished and fitted with new Goodyear tyres. Finally, the interior was lightly refreshed, including fitting new trim and aluminium-effect finishes.
The car has been regularly maintained and servied throughout its life. The service book shows 14 stamps to 94,400 miles in 2024. The mileage is now 95,500 miles. The MOT runs to November 2026.
This is a really tidy and clearly much-loved TI that looks ready to work as a daily driver or road trip companion.
