The XJR was exported to Japan soon after it was manufactured and was reimported in the summer of 2020 by a reputable specialist, who really values the Japanese import models due to the fact they have never been used on salted roads nor have they seen the general high mileage hard wear and tear so often seen on UK cars.

Like all XJRs this one is wonderfully well-equipped – it has electrically adjustable heated seats, climate control, automatic transmission, self-dimming mirrors, auto lights and wipers, touch-screen infotainment and a reversing camera. It also features adaptive cruise control – a technology still seen as modern today but pioneered by Jaguar 20 years ago on the X350.

The Jaguar still looks fabulous in its original Pearlescent British Racing Green paint, which wears its 19 years fabulously well and still retains a deep and lustrous shine. There are no dents or obvious damage, nor is there any alloy reaction in the paint, which is one of the first things you look for on these cars. It was treated to a full mop and ceramic coating in late 2020 and still has a deep, glossy shine.
All of the trim is present and correct the tyres are in good condition, there’s no reported kerbing to any of the alloy wheels and the bumpers and trim are described as free from notable scuffs or damage.image00007.jpeg12.08 MB
THE MECHANICS
4.2-litre V8 with supercharger

Under the bonnet you’ll find Jaguar’s 4.2 V8, as also found in S-TYPE and XK8, but in this case equipped with a Garrett supercharger giving it 400bhp performance. In the big XJ it delivers 0-60mph in under six seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.
This one has been impeccably maintained by its current owner and has recently had a gearbox service, new front arms to cure squeaky suspension and a full engine service by a renowned Jaguar specialist who described it as one of the best he’d seen. The vendor describes the performance as ‘spirited’ with an addictive whine from the supercharger.
SUMMARY
Jaguar ‘X350’ XJs are rapidly attracting more interest as they age and the XJR is the absolute pick of the bunch – arguably Jaguar’s last true big V8 muscle car, as the character of the later XJ was completely different.
This one is hugely desirable – low mileage, low ownership, well-maintained and in the all-time classic colour of British Racing Green, it’s as good as an XJR of this vintage gets.
