The Appeal
The original SLK was Mercedes’ answer to the roadster revival that was kicked off by the MX-5. Buyers got a sort of re-sized SL, including a clever folding hard top that would revolutionise the sector and lead to many copycats. Where rivals focussed on sporting, Mercedes also built comfort and cruisability to the R170’s appeal.
For those who like to use and enjoy their SLK, the pick of the range is the 2.3L 190bhp SLK230 because it offers decent power with real-world economy. This well-specified Brilliant Silver car is fitted with the versatile 5spd auto box and full leather in Anthracite. It is a low mileage car that has had just four keepers in its 22 years.
The current keeper acquired the car in 2020 and tells us that it has always been garaged when not in use. The service records show it was last serviced at 71,000 miles by Mercedes-Benz in February 2023, part of a £1,369 maintenance expenditure. The current mileage is 74,000 miles and it carries advisory-free MOT valid to May 2026.
The vendor says:
“A wonderful car with which I have had no problem. I replaced the battery in 2022 because it needed to be replaced. A joy to drive, I am only selling it because I need a bigger family car due to the arrival of my first child in November last year.”
