The Appeal
Hailing from a period when Mercedes-Benz’s reputation for quality was unsurpassed, the R107 SL brought together solid construction, sound engineering and elegant styling. It proved immensely popular with a production span of eighteen years and remains a desirable classic roadster to this day.
This 1986 560 SL was supplied new to the United States of America. The 5.6-litre V8 under the bonnet was the most powerful to be fitted to the R107 and was not offered in Europe. Therefore, US imports such as this are quite sought after and are properly quick cars when you want them to be.

- Palomino leather presents well for its age
- Slight creasing and signs of us to the front seats, but they’re in great overall condition
- The upholstery in the rear is really smart
- Some cracking to the dashboard
- The veneers present well with no significant damage or deterioration
- Slight wear to the carpets but they remain very presentable
- With the exception of the modern Pioneer stereo, everything appears really original
- The headlining fitted to the removable hardtop is in really good shape
The Exterior

- US spec headlights, high level brake light and bumpers
- The paintwork holds a really deep and lustrous shine with few imperfections
- So far as we could see, the bodywork is really straight and the doors fit really well
- Both the soft top and hard top roofs are in good condition
- All the trim and bumpers appear in good shape
- The wheel trims present well
- Underneath the floor pans look to have been recently painted and are in good condition
- We couldn’t see any evidence of corrosion
- Overall, this R107 presents really well for its age
