A very stylish car, pillarless in construction (giving unimpeded access), Continental in design and bodied by Kellner of Paris. The car has benefitted from a great deal of restoration work in recent times, and now looks very smart, freshly painted in an attractive shade of dark green, complimented by a lighter green leather interior. The car runs well, drives nicely and is greatly enhanced by the fitting of overdrive, relaxing the engine at cruising speeds. We first owned this car in 1986, and it is back more than thirty years later! New tyres just fitted, serviced, prepared and MoT tested until April 2022. Now reduced in price too, and representing very good value for money!

Snippets: Caramels & Calvados
The car was ordered in 1936 by Jean Dupont, of Isigny-sur-Mer, Calvados, the family also owned B61GP which was also a Kellner-bodied Derby. The DuPont family businesses specialised in butter caramels & of course the famous Calvados brandy. Perhaps the most famous name associated with the Isigny area is that of Walt Disney – his ancestor Robert d’Isigny settled in England during Norman times and over time the name became Disney! After some 20 years B97HM was acquired by Peter Lyons who used 16 Rue Vernet in Paris as his contact address. This was the registered address of The Paris Review which was formed in 1953 by HRH Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan to emphasize literary works – poetry, essays etc with contributions from Hemingway, Ginsberg, Kerouac, Mailer, Nabokov, Pinter, Updike, Vonnegut, Waugh & Wodehouse. The 3rd name on the chassis card is that of C J Lummis who lived in Hassocks, Sussex – the name being derived from the tufts of grass in the vicinity.
