1951 MG TD
The most successful of the ‘T’ Series MGs, with almost 30, 000 produced between 1950 - 53, the TD represented a major step forward with its independent front suspension and rack and pinion steering, this having been first seen on the ‘Y’ Type saloon that had appeared in 1947.
The TD proved a great hit in the USA and many enthusiasts found it the ideal car for driving to work in the week and participating in rallies and races at weekends.
This 1951 example was originally exported and spent some time in Minnesota, with correspondence form the US owner on file. Reimported in 1990, the car was restored and converted to RHD.
Significant sums have been spent, with work having included a higher ratio rear axle and new springs and shock absorbers. More recent work has included new carpets, hood and hood cover. Included in the two files supplied are the original guarantee, the correct driver’s handbook, photos of the restoration in progress, a workshop manual and much additional useful information.
