Celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, the Austin-Healey Sprite has an appeal that transcends the generations. It was also gave many enthusiasts their first taste of sports car motoring due to its affordable price tag of £669. Ease of maintenance and frugal fuel consumption were other endearing factors. Few cars have offered such fun in such a charismatic package, so it is easy to understand their lasting appeal.
This example, of 1959 manufacture, was originally exported to North America, as were so many British sports cars at that time. It was imported three years ago and underwent a substantial restoration which was completed earlier this year.
Correctly finished in Iris Blue, this delightful Sprite benefits from the useful upgrades of front disc brakes and a rebuilt 1098cc engine from a Sprite Mk2. The car has just been serviced and tuned and is now ready for enjoyable Summer motoring. The Midget and Sprite Club offers excellent support and the opportunity to participate in numerous events.
A large file of paperwork includes a vast number of bills etc from the restoration.
