DLG 731X was left the factory in Pageant Blue with Black houndstooth interior and was first registered on the 10th September 1981. The car is the 600th Spitfire from the end of production and was built at the Canley factory. The Spitfire 1500 has arrived with us recording a mileage of 83, 000 and previous MOT certificates dating back to 1993 show the car has only covered 8, 000 miles in the past 25 years. Whilst covering very low mileage, the MOT certificates show the car has been kept annually on the road and in relatively regular use.
This car had one owner from 1993 to 2010 and paperwork in the history file confirms the car was subject of a top class body restoration and re-paint in August 1995. The car was beautifully painted also treated to new discs, pads and calipers, copper brake pipes and new exhaust system including manifold. Invoices from 2010 when the car changed hands after 17 years are all present for parts to include gearbox front and rear oil seals, timing chain, clutch, rocker shaft, cam followers, water pump gasket, core plug set, crankshaft and camshaft sprocket and rear main oil seal. The Spitfire was also treated to new rear shock absorbers, anti-roll bar bushes, differential work and brake overhaul. Its also clear from looking under the bonnet the front suspebsion and braking system has been fully rebuilt and various ancillaires replaced and detailed to ensure a first class car throughout.
The Spitfire is a lovely older restoration that has had a much more recent front-end strip down as per the invoices and details in the file. The car presents in stunning condition with lovely paint, an exceptional straight body, top class, show prepared under bonnet and superbly clean boot area. The interior is sharp with smart carpets, seats, door cards and new looking hood. The engine is superb and performs perfectly, the four speed gearbox changes up and down smoothly with excellent syncromesh and the car will be supplied freshly serviced and with a full 12 months MOT.
