1996 Volkswagen Golf GTi 16V Anniversary Limited Edition. 1 of 150 16 Valve cars produced. Mystic Blue with Chequered Recaro sports seats. The Anniversary model had the usual GTI specification but came equipped with special chequered Recaro front sport seats and matching rear seats bearing the GTI logo, red seat belts front and rear, half-chromed and leather golf ball gear knob, red stitched leather steering wheel and handbrake gaiter. The release knob on the hand brake was also red and silver instrument dials. Floor mats also had red piping along their edges. The red theme continued externally with a red striping on the bumpers and red brake calipers. The wheels were 16" x 7" split rim BBS RS 722 alloys, visually similar to the 15" that were found on VR6 model. Also featured were brushed stainless-steel rear twin tailpipes on the exhaust and smoked front fog and indicator lamps to match the rear lamps. 3 optional extras were made available; electric sunroof, air conditioning and metallic black paintwork. Insurance was based on the standard GTI which made this version a very desirable model. The edition was sold in only 6 colour schemes, this particular car has air conditioning and power steering. With only 2 previous owners and just 77, 000 miles with full service history this 16V is a very special car and has been with its last owner for many years, still in totally original condition and coming direct from a private collection and 1 of only 150 built makes it a very desirable car. As you can see from the pictures the car is absolutely stunning and in amazing all round condition. the paintwork is unmarked and the upholstery showing virtually no signs of wear, the original limited edition mats are still with the car. The split rim BBS alloy wheels are free from any curbing and look as good as new. Mechanically the car is just as good running and driving just as it should and it has just passed an mot through to April 2022 with no advisories. A rare car now which is increasing in value and becoming very collectible, the Golf GTi is iconic and has cult status and its a car that everyone should own at least once during their lifetime. The car still has its original book pack with all manuals and handbooks as well as a fully stamped service book. Two keys with the car as well as the blips that operate the alarm system and remote central locking. This car will look great in any collection or at any car rally classic or otherwise.
