Mazda 323 1. 8 Turbo 4WD FIA Historic Rally Car Group A
Built in Finland in 1998 as an N-group racing car, rallied until 2003. After which it stood still for many years, between 2020-2021 it was totally stripped and rebuilt to its current condition. Completed in January 2021. Revised and approved as a J 2 age Historic race car.
The car is mainly tuned to group N spec, except for its body, engine and chassis, e. g. interior upholstery, rear seat, etc. removed. In this age group, N-Group cars must be kept fully upholstered.
Suspension: front adjustable MRT (Sachs) three-way gas shock absorbers, serviced in 2021 (oils, seals, gas) by IB-race, pen springs and adjustable coilovers. Rear Bilstein Rally + pen springs + adjustable coilovers.
Brakes: Group N
Gearbox: Group N, Sinter clutch.
Engine: Gone through in 2021, pistons replaced, head refurbished, injectors ultra-washed (Pro Engines), turbo checked etc.
The engine has been setup and run on the dyno by Asko Kosonen, 234 hp, at a modest 0. 9 turbo pressure. The injectors have been replaced with more powerful ones so the turbo pressure can be increased if you want more power. Turbo is the small turbo (two turbo versions classified, big and small) which makes the torque even in the lower revolutions absolutely great (see power measurement report).
There is an MRT (Mazda Rally Team) ECU, so the engine is fully tuned according to historic rules.
The car has Finnish registration papers and was inspected (MOT/ TUV) in January 2021.
Driven only one ice-sprint race since the restoration, 2 x 2. 8 km.
