Here we have an exceedingly rare, 1 of just 45 total built original right-hand-drive export Austin Healey 3000 MkI Two-Seaters (BN7). By comparison 157 total UK RHD cars (also supremely desirable) and 2, 284 were built for the North American market. 483 XVJ has the great benefit of being an original South African car, which means it has enjoyed a wonderful dry and warm climate for the majority of its life with the car imported in 2018 to the UK.
Built on 30th August 1960 this very pretty MkI was very well specified from new with wire wheels, overdrive, a locking fuel cap, adjustable steering column, tonneau cover and the upgraded Roadspeed upgraded tyres.
438 XVJ is attractively finished in British Racing Green with chrome wire wheels, polished cockpit trims and a particularly special bespoke trimmed full leather interior in sumptuous Muirhead ‘Oatmeal’ leather with Green seat piping and plush Black hand fitted carpet. Externally bodywork is in very good condition with original panelling with nice shape and no rust can be seen to be present. Paintwork is of a very nice glossy quality and rich depth, making this one very attractive Healey the new owner could be very proud of.
This Healey has a detailed history file with excellent mechanical history with body and structure refurbishment in 2016, a new Beige hood and full rewire in 2017, in 2018 fully polybushed suspension, full gearbox rebuild in 2018 and a side exit exhaust fitted.
In October 2022 we carried out a major service to the car including a total rear axle overhaul, rear brake overhaul, new rear brake lines, new stator tube, steering box fluid change and adjustment plus a full all round grease up and service.
In conclusion 483 XVJ is an excellent driving, quality example of the rare and coveted BN7 model Healey in very good all-around condition, ready to go.
