Highlights

• Fully restored to Group 4 guidelines
• Rebello Racing engine
• Left hand drive
• Never driven since rebuild

The Background

The Datsun 240Z is the beginning of one of the most iconic and successful sports car line ups ever produced, the Z family – a car family that even today is still lusted after by millions of car enthusiasts, and collectors. This halo car is one that will forever be an icon in the automotive industry.

The History

This particular Datsun 240z was originally a California car which was imported over to Spain for the current owner, his intentions were to completely rebuild it from the ground up so that he could compete in super-sport regularity rallies with his daughter. The dream went forth, and thus this beautiful 240z sits in his possession today.
This car has undergone a full bare-shell restoration in its lifetime with the current owner, no expense has been spared while preparing the car for Group 4 rallies. Unfortunately, this car has never had the privilege to compete, and has never been registered in Spain as the current owner hasn’t driven it.

The Paperwork

The restoration of this car has been heavily documented, including over 100 images of the car in it’s bare shell state being built up and painted and completed. These images really do show just how much time and money have been poured into this build. Within the documented pictures you can see how clean the bare metal shell was and you can see all the welding involved to get the car up to Group 4 guidelines.
The current owner has the correct paperwork to register the car and a plethora of paperwork to show most of the parts and labour which have been put into this masterpiece, as well as the bill of sale for the car when he purchased it from California.

The Interior

The cockpit of this 240z features a flocked dashboard, a main switchboard to control ignition, fuel, lights, heat etc, and a set of XL Sparco bucket seats, which required floor modifications to fit. The car is equipped with a full cage with door bars, as well as other safety features such as 6-point harnesses for both driver and passenger, and a built-in fire suppression system. Unfortunately this safety equipment expired in December of 2020, so if you wish to race this car like it was intended to you’d need to replace these safety features. A small price to pay for the fun that could be had, though!
The dashboard, as well as having the main switchboard, also has AutoMeter gauges to monitor over engine essentials, as well as the centre console housing a hydraulic handbrake. Custom made wiring loom with military grade connectors, and a MoTeC PDM.
The interior features a matte black finish on the inside of the doors (which are stripped of door-cards, because you know, racecar), as well as the centre console and cage. The driver and passenger footwells are reinforced with steel plates. It even has a heated front windscreen and lexan windows.
In the boot there is a spare full sized wheel, one of the fire extinguisher canisters and the fuel cell built by Concept Racing which required floor modification at the time of the bare shell restoration, and the battery behind the passenger side seat.

The Exterior

The exterior of the car is very well kept, due to the car not being driven it’s still as pretty as it was after the full restoration was completed. The paintwork is seemingly free of blemishes, and there’s no vacancy of racing heritage here. The car sports a beautiful custom livery in matte black and red, with door numbers and car branding on the front wings. It’s very fitting and ties together nicely with the front 2 Cibie Oscar and 3 Cibie Super Oscar fog lamps! They’ll make sure you’re never left in the dark on those rally stages.
The owner spared no expense when it came to the exterior, with a custom made larger front grill and brand new GRP front and rear bumpers, trunk and bonnet and the car comes with x2 full sets of 7x15 minilites (10 wheels) with brand new Avon 215/60R15 CR6ZZ (5 tires).

The Mechanics

A Rebello Racing 2.7 litre inline 6 is the heartbeat of this rally car, which consists of utilising the existing 240z engine so that the numbers still match. This engine made 300 crank horsepower on the dyno after the build. As well as this complete fresh engine build from Robello, the owner included the following:

  • Triple Weber carbs with K&N filters and isolation tray
  • 90-amp Alternator
  • Custom made exhaust manifold
  • Custom made exhaust system with H pipes and centred pipes
  • Lightened Flywheel
  • Competition clutch
  • Twin facet electronic fuel pump and regulator
  • Triple core radiator and twin electric fans
  • Custom heavy-duty aluminium undertrays
  • and LOADS MORE!
Hopefully that list gives you an idea of how serious this car is. To further this, the power is delivered through the stock 5-speed transmission, Quaife R200 viscous-type LSD and Porsche type half-axles and CV joints. Larger rotors and calipers on all 4 corners of the car, Koni coilover conversion with custom made anti-roll bars, fully adjustable front control arms and tension rods, rear inforced adjustable control arms, new bearings, silent blocks etc… This list truly goes on and on!

The Appeal

If you’re looking for something to throw around a rally stage with style, we don’t think you have to look any further than this. This car is a serious piece of automotive history with unfathomable amounts of work and dedication poured into it.

This is no replica - this is a professional build with meticulous attention to detail.

Ammontare dell'offerta Incremento
Da 0 € a 9.999 € 100,00 €
Da 10.000 € a 49.999 € 250,00 €
Da 50.000 € a 99.999 € 500,00 €
100.000 € + 1.000,00 €

Superamento immediato dell'offerta
