The Appeal
With a thriving network of specialists, enthusiasts and parts suppliers, the Volkswagen Beetle is ripe for customisation, leading to a great many unique custom creations in the marketplace, including this 1972 1300. Now a convertible 'Ragtop', effectively featuring an unusually large sunroof, this Beetle is just the thing for sunny days. Its front wings are taken from an earlier (pre-1968 MY) car, as are the slim bumpers, giving it the appearance of a much older VW - not dissimilar to the original Hebmüller cabriolets of the late 1940s.
Having undergone significant mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment since 2019, including engine reconditioning and interior refreshment, this Beetle presents exceedingly well.
The vendor says:
"A very good example of a classic 'Ragtop' Beetle. With good bodywork, a solid underside and a good running engine. A little fettling with the tune up and tidying up the paintwork a little and addressing the small bubbles, and it would be a perfect show car."
