• Fantastic condition inside and out • Rally Spec • 1600cc Engine
The Background
The Sunbeam is a small three-door hatchback manufactured for Chrysler and PSA between 1977-1981. In 1979 the first ‘sporty’ version of the Sunbeam arrived called the ‘ti’. Powered by a 1600cc engine including twin Weber carburettors, this car was a stripped out special and made little sense as a road car but it grabbed the hearts of the rally crowd.
Rallying was definitely the Sunbeams forte, winning the 1980 World Rally Championship as well as the Lombard-RAC Rally, ending Ford’s string of success. The years that followed were less prosperous and soon the Sunbeam was a thing of the past.DSC07902.jpg1.12 MB
The History
This is a car built for one purpose, rallying. Extensive modifications have been made to create an all terrain conqueror. A full list of the mods have been listed below but it's clear it’s been some time since this car has seen action.DSC07991.jpg502.31 KB
The Paperwork
Items of paperwork present with the vehicle are primarily based on its rally life, this includes a homologation form, historic rally identity form, safety roll bar certificate dated. DSC08089.jpg1.15 MB
The Exterior
This is an exceptional car in more ways than one, the general condition of paintwork and trims is great.
The white paint with rally decals are all free from damage, there might be the odd tiny scratch for example on the front light covers but in general the car is free from scuff and paint damage.
All wheels are in the same fabulous condition, the only signs of wear are under the vehicle where the terrain it once covered has left its mark on the under engine protection. This heavy duty plate has done exactly what it was built for and stopped much of the environment going up in the engine bay, which is very clean and very tidy.
The end of the exhaust is showing some sign of corrosion, something not uncommon on most cars. The glass ,lights and plastics are also all in fine condition.DSC07910.jpg1.15 MB
The Interior
Inside things are serious, this isn’t a car built for comfort.
Bucket seats, fire extinguishers, roll cage are in, headlining, rear seats and radio are out! Equipped with only the essentials, this thing is stripped back, organised chaos, wires and dials, switches and lights are all in this car for a reason.
Like the exterior, everything is in really good condition, no ripped seats, scratches or damage to anything we cast our eyes on.DSC07933.jpg1.24 MB

The Appeal
You’re looking at a historic rally car in fabulous condition, both inside and out. It’s unique, it’s special, it's just great. There’s only a handful of Sunbeams left, even less in this specification and this condition.
This is a great opportunity to own a stand out vehicle that's only going to get even more scarce.
