The Appeal

Opel’s facelifted A2 Monza had few rivals. Big, comfortable, well built and propelled by torquey 3L 180bhp straight six, it was a serious autobahn stormer. Yet these cars are now exceptionally rare, particularly equipped with the 5spd manual box of this 1983 example.

We are told that it was restored in 2006 and has been garaged and little used since. It presents well in the photos. The silver paintwork is matched with a black velour interior featuring the sort of seats built for long distances. Recent work includes a service plus four new tyres. The fuel tank, flow meter and spark plugs have also been recently replaced. We are told that the car carries Spanish ITV to April 2026.

The Monza is not an obvious classic choice, mainly because it is now so rare. But with its many virtues, including performance, style and comfort, it is definitely a compelling one.
