The Appeal
The Renault 4 is one of those vehicles that can't help but win your heart, but with 8 million vehicles produced over four decades, this worldwide automotive icon has a few more tricks up its sleeve than just its adorable appearance. Recognised as the world's first FWD hatchback, the 4 was also great to drive, exceptionally practical and offered great handling and road-holding.
The Renault 4's platform lent itself to perfectly as a van, thanks to its flat floor, low rear sill and wide range of engines. The F4 (Fourgonnette) was first seen in 1966 and continued to evolve over the years, culminating with the 845cc engine, four-speed gearbox and 12V electrics. In its final decade of production, the F4 also offered a vastly improved interior and exterior.
Imported from the South of France in 2000, this example is believed to have been an ex-French EDF van. It was owned by a Reverend before being purchased and restored to its current condition, with evidence that parts have been supplied by German specialists. Beautifully finished in its original specification, it comes with a number of spare parts, sales brochures, parts manuals and an MOT to February 2023.
