The Appeal

As enthusiasts will know, the VW Golf has earned legendary status, with models still being produced to this day.

Classic models, such as the MK1 Cabriolet are now incredibly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors alike, making tidy examples very desirable.

This particular example is arguably one of the finest available at the moment, showcasing an excellent finish, superb mechanical condition, and highly desirable BBS alloys.
If you’re looking for a superb show-worthy vehicle to add to your collection or enjoy this summer, this MK1 Cabriolet is worth every penny.

The History and Paperwork

  • Well cared for
  • Previously restored/repainted
  • Garage stored
  • MOT until Jan 2023
  • Original handbooks
  • V5C document present
Although difficult to currently verify, this MK1 has very likely been restored at some point in its life, perhaps retaining original paint where possible.

It would also come as no surprise if this car has had a past life of being somewhat of a show car, with its lowered stance, and gorgeous BBS alloys.
Throughout its time with the current owner, the car has been absolutely treasured, only venturing out in dry, sunny weather. It is only due to lack of space that this gorgeous VW is now looking for its new home, where it will no doubt be the pride and joy of its new owner.

The Interior

  • Mostly original interior
  • Great condition for its age
  • Classic VW patterns
This 1989 Golf boasts what is believed to be a mostly original interior, showing off some of Volkswagens classic fabric patterns.

Despite its age, the vehicle’s interior is in a rather fair condition, showing only a few signs of wear and tear.
The majority of the wear can be found on the driver's seat, which shows the expected wear, and a tear to the side bolster. The passenger seats, on the other hand, reflect far fewer signs of use, although the rear seats do show some fraying towards the headrests as pictured.
Both door cards are in great condition for their age, with the exception of the driver’s side, which shows a crack in the plastic. All other trim pieces and carpets throughout the cabin have been preserved rather well, and certainly won’t disappoint.
One rather interesting point to note is the original stickers found within the boot, which suggests the possibility of only a partial respray in the past.

The boot also plays host to the spare wheel and original jack.

The Exterior

  • Gorgeous white paintwork
  • Classic MK1 aesthetic
  • Rare BBS alloy wheels
  • Lowered stance
  • Excellent condition
This MK1 is near enough the epitome of tasteful German vehicle modification, showing off a subtly lowered stance, and BBS alloy wheels.

As VAG enthusiasts will know, the wheels alone demand a great deal of attention and value within the used markets and certainly shouldn't be overlooked here. Although road legal, the tyres do show minor signs of age, in the form of cracking.
Having likely received fresh paint in the past, the car’s exterior condition is excellent, especially when compared to other examples on the market.

There are a few pictured defects to note, with the most severe of which is a small area of damage to the front right wing, and minor bubbling in front of the windscreen. These defects are hardly noticeable at first glance, and could quite easily be rectified for a low cost.
The foldable soft top is in excellent condition and neatly tucks away under the included tonneau cover. Although hardly impactful, the rear left tonneau securing pin latch is rather temperamental.

All badging, lights, and trim pieces are all in a similar great condition, showing only very minor signs of the expected wear.
Overall, it is very difficult to fault how this stunning Golf presents itself. Even as it stands right now, it could quite easily win awards at classic car shows for its desirable specification and gorgeous aesthetics.

The Mechanics

  • Drives brilliantly
  • Well maintained
  • New near-side rear brake flexi pipe
  • Recent 4-wheel alignment
  • New battery
  • Headlamp convectors fitted
Buyers will be pleased to know that this MK1 fires up right away and happily performs as intended.

Although hardly the sportier variant compared to the likes of the GTI, this little Cabriolet still provides a thoroughly enjoyable balance of humble power and excellent handling.

The handling, of course, can be contributed to what are believed to be Bilstein shocks, although this is rather difficult to verify at surface level.
The vehicle comes with a valid MOT until Jan 2023 and has been well cared for throughout its time with the current owner.

With no known mechanical or electrical issues to report, this mighty VW is now more than ready to be enjoyed by its lucky new owner.

Summary

If you’re looking for a stunning example of one of the most iconic German vehicles ever produced, this is the car for you.

This Cabriolet shows off excellent paintwork, rare BBS alloys, a subtly lowered stance, and will surely continue to turn heads wherever it goes.

With no mechanical issues to report, this would make the perfect toy to enjoy top-down motoring or show-season with.

Ammontare dell'offerta Incremento
Da £0 a £9,999 £100.00
Da £10,000 a £49,999 £250.00
Da £50,000 a £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Superamento immediato dell'offerta
