The Appeal
In 1990, there were more mainstream hot hatch choices, but the unassuming AE92 Corolla GT-i was a canny buy. Light and equipped with Toyota’s reliable and revvy 16V 1.6L 4A-GE engine, it was hugely entertaining. And that’s before we mention the stylish and supportive seats…
These cars proved so enjoyable for buyers that few remain, and those that do have often been modified. Not so this 1990 example, which is classically finished in white and remains factory standard inside and out.
The vendor tells us that he bought it in 2010 to add to his Toyota collection. It has been little-used since, remaining in dry storage since the last MOT in 2016. We are told that up to COVID, it was started every six months, but has been untouched since.
The car is complete and looks solid beneath the storage dust. Due to the lack of use, buyers should be realistic about the mechanical condition and anticipate some recommissioning.
