The Appeal

Produced from 1982 to 1993, the W201, or Baby Benz as it was known has only been slow to reach recognition as a classic because of the fact that nearly 1.9m were produced.

However, there weren’t many with the 2.6 litre engine and that’s what we have here. Mercedes felt they needed something special for the 190E and took the engine from the new E-class and shoehorned it in under the bonnet.

Being a big 6-cylinder engine, they had to tweak a few things up front, but it provided a smoothness (and sound) which other four-cylinder engines lack.

This one comes with an impressive set of fitted options including alloy wheels, rear spoiler, air-con, electric windows, electric sunroof, front and rear headrests and armrests.
