The Appeal
The Saab 9-5 arrived for the 1998 model year to replace the ageing 9000 as Saab’s executive saloon offering. It represented a quantum leap forward over the 9000 and became the largest car built by Saab on its arrival. The estate version followed in 1999 offering buyers a very generous load carrier combined with all the refinements of class-leading executive saloon. A total of over 480,000 Series 1 Saab 9-5s ultimately rolled out of the Trollhattan factory.
This example of the 9-5 Estate is the range topping Aero HOT (high output turbo) model. What’s more, it was supplied new with over £9,000 worth (in 2007) of Hirsch upgrades resulting in a 20% power uplift to 300 bhp. The car has been well cared for and maintained and presents in an excellent condition throughout. This car must represent the ultimate form of the respected 9-5 estate combining unbeatable practicality with eye-widening performance.myyakgB8eJnc9XdrE8ZspGQeZ6h1kNToHJsbEHrh.jpg640.63 KB

The Swedes were well practised at producing high-performance, high-specification sports estate cars. They provided something a little different and, perhaps, more individual than equivalent offerings from German brands. This means they remain well-respected and sought after today for their combination of eminent practicality, luxury, performance and safety.
This example represents the pinnacle of Saab’s offerings in the mid 2000’s. The 9-5 Aero HOT was already Saab’s top model, but this example goes a step further with its approved Hirsch upgrades. It has clearly been cherished in its long, current ownership and the results of this are plain to see. With the untimely demise of Saab in 2012 models of this calibre are even more sought after and revered. Don’t miss your opportunity to own this ultimate expression of automotive Scandi-cool.
