The Appeal

The Continental GT first appeared in 2003 to become the first Bentley model produced under Volkswagen ownership, following their 1998 acquisition.

The Continental was conceived as an “entry level” Bentley utilising scalable and mass production manufacturing techniques for the first time for the company. Despite this it was immediately successful and soon recognised a hugely capable GT car harking back to sporting Bentleys of earlier years.

The convertible GTC arrived three years later providing buyers with the unique proposition of a convertible four-seater car capable of over 190 mph and 0-60 mph in 5 seconds. All whilst cosseting its occupants in exquisite luxury and comfort. Over 15 years on and the GTC delivers a compelling ownership proposition and outstanding value for money.

The Interior

  • Featuring a sublime interior with all the Bentley Continental refinements in evidence
  • Presenting in excellent condition and exuding the ambiance of an exclusive members club
  • Finished in Black leather together with many additional Mulliner refinements

This GTC’s interior is fitted and finished to the highest standards and firmly in keeping with Bentley traditions and reputation. The seats and door card panels are finished in Black hides. These are finished in the signature double stitched diamond quilted pattern which is part of the Mulliner package. The seat centres are finished with perforated leather and the Bentley winged emblem is embroidered into the seat backs.

The front seats are not just in great condition but are also fully electrically adjustable and heated. They are high backed and heavily bolstered in order to combine comfort with optimum support for more spirited, back road excursions. The rear seats are more than just occasional afterthoughts and provide decent space and comfort for passengers. These are identically trimmed to the fronts and the condition of the leather appears to be excellent throughout.

The dashboard is finished in piano black gloss veneer which extends into the centre console. A cluster of white on black gauges sit behind the four-spoke, multifunction leather steering wheel. Gear shift paddles are also present. Other Mulliner refinements include alloy drilled pedal covers and sporting gear lever finished in knurled chrome and hide.

This GTC has benefitted from an entertainment system upgrade to a Pioneer Bluetooth enabled unit with Apple CarPlay and large central display screen. In many ways the star of this exquisite interior may, however, be the signature analogue dashboard clock manufactured by Breitling.

The Exterior

  • This example benefits from a highly sophisticated colourway of Diamond Black Metallic
  • The wheels are the optional 22-inch, fifteen-spoke Bentley alloys finished in gloss black
  • The external presentation of the car is very good indeed in every respect

The sophisticated Diamond Black Metallic paintwork of this example suits the Raul Pires and Dirk van Braeckel design very well indeed. The traditional Bentley matrix grille integrated into the bonnet and the famed black winged ‘B’ badge to radiator shell and boot lid leave you in no doubt about the heritage and original of this peerless GT car.

The impressive 22-inch, 15 spoke light alloy wheels look amazing finished, as they are, in gloss black and featuring centre caps bearing white Bentley “B’s.” These are in great condition with just a little, light kerb rash in evidence on the fronts. These wheels are shod in ultra-low-profile sports tyres.

The back mohair hood appears to be in an excellent overall condition throughout. It is reported to operate quickly, smoothly and quietly at the touch of a button, just as Bentley intended. It has also been recently re-waterproofed for complete reassurance.

The Mechanics

  • The GTC is fitted with the behemoth 6L, twin turbocharged W12 engine
  • Originally rated at an enormous 552 bhp and 479 Ib-ft of torque
  • Power is fed to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission

Bentley’s brief for the GT and, hence, the GTC was centred on their desire to produce a GT car firmly in keeping with their illustrious sporting heritage. Consequently, absolutely no expense was spared on the mechanical specification ultimately producing a car that could top 190 mph and accelerate to 100 mph in a mere 11 seconds. To ensure optimum levels of safety and drivability in all conditions, a Torsen-based permanent four-wheel drive system is fitted as standard.

Given its maintenance history and the sensible original milage this car has covered, it will come as no surprise that this car is reported to be in a fine mechanical condition. The service history reveals a majority of Bentley dealer attention as well as that of independent specialists. The car has recently been fully checked over by Lewmark Limited and any outstanding items addressed accordingly.

Summary

It was crucial for Volkswagen to set a high bar with the Bentley GT and GTC. Being the first car produced under Volkswagen’s ownership, no effort or investment was spared in reassuring the world that this historic marque was in safe and appreciative hands. The result was more than well received with VIPs, celebrities and enthusiasts beating a path to the nearest Bentley dealership.

This is a fine example of the breed too, offering a stealthy looking and popular colourway and presenting in an excellent overall condition. The value offered by GTCs of this vintage is hard to match by any other modern classic. If you want to combine eye-watering performance with “wind in your hair” luxury and exclusivity, then very few others will compare to this Bentley GTC.

Ammontare dell'offerta Incremento
Da £0 a £9,999 £100.00
Da £10,000 a £49,999 £250.00
Da £50,000 a £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Superamento immediato dell'offerta
