The Appeal

Pity Mercedes’ poor engineers having to produce a new ‘Sport Leicht’ SL better and more capable than its predecessor. With the R231, the objective was firmly delivered. The new car, with its aluminium spaceframe chassis, was lighter than the R230 and therefore more nimble and with sharper steering. It was wider too, which improved the handling.

The first keeper of this SL500 wasn’t content to settle for what was an already highly equipped standard car. He feasted on over £20,000 of options, bringing the car’s total cost close to £100,000. Choice extras include the AMG Sports Pack, ABC suspension, upgraded seats, Keyless GO and the Airscarft system.

Painted rare Hyacinth Red metallic with a matching red perforated leather interior, this is a very low mileage car that has had just three keepers. The condition is as you would expect of a sparingly used, low-keeper car. It has only ever been serviced by Mercedes-Benz and carries MOT to 30th August 2026 with no advisories.
