NO RESERVE - 2000 Suzuki Swift GLX

HIGHLIGHTS

• Less than 30,000 miles from new
• Exceptionally original
• Time-warp interior

THE BACKGROUND

It’s probably fair to say that this Suzuki Swift isn’t the sexiest or most expensive car that’s currently being auctioned on this platform but that doesn’t mean that it’s not worthy of your attention. With low mileage and low owners and presenting in remarkably original condition this Swift, the 1.3 GLX no less, would be a brilliant first classic offering affordable and reliable no frills motoring.
This generation of Suzuki was produced from 1992 to 2003 and as a fairly late car this example is presented in five-door facelift guise.

THE HISTORY

The Suzuki was originally registered by the selling dealer as one of its demo vehicles on 1 September 2000 and it was then sold as an ex-demonstrator a month later on 1 October 2000 to its sole registered lady keeper who was based in the Liverpool area.
She owned the Suzuki for the best part of 20 years before it came into the hands of its current custodian. He’s a collector who has eclectic tastes and despite the Suzuki not being the sort of car he usually buys he couldn’t resist its low mileage, dealer service history and wonderful originality. However, he now has more cars than he can afford to store so is looking for the next owner who will love and cherish the Suzuki as much as he has.

THE PAPERWORK

Accompanying the Suzuki is the original book pack complete with a fully stamped service book. Despite its low mileage there are 16 stamps in the service book – the PDI from the selling dealer, four from the Sutton Park Motor Company and a further 11 from Jemca in Enfield. There can’t be that many cars that have averaged just 1500 miles a year that have quite such a fully stamped book.
To back up the mileage the online MoT history checker shows that there have only been a few minor advisories over the years and the current test runs until September 2022 with a couple of minor advisory points.

The V5 states one former keeper, being the issuing dealer and the current owner being the same keeper since it was registered under the dealer ship.

THE INTERIOR

The cockpit of the Suzuki harks back to a simpler time without too many of the fripperies that are foisted on new car owners these days, but that’s not to say the Swift doesn’t come with some creature comforts. There are electric front windows, electric door mirrors, height adjustable headlight beams and a rear fog light as well as what looks like the car’s original Suzuki-branded radio cassette.
The seats and door trim panels are clad in a wonderfully period multi-coloured fabric and are free from any rips, staining or damage while the grey plastic dash and door furniture is in similarly good condition. The carpet and headlining would appear to be unmarked, too. The small boot is in good order and has a space saver spare tyre under the boot floor.

THE EXTERIOR

The Suzuki would appear to be in its original condition externally and there are no serious dents or marks to the bodywork other than a couple of minor blemishes. The corners of the rear bumper would appear to have sustained some minor damage at some point and have been touched in accordingly.
Otherwise the silver paint is in good condition and the doors all have good shut lines and open and close cleanly. The glass sunroof appears to be in good order as is the rest of the glass and the lights on the vehicle. The Suzuki’s originality can be attested to by the fact that it still retains its front and rear number plates from its original selling dealer.
The steel wheels would probably benefit from a deep clean and perhaps a coat of paint. They are fitted with what would appear to be its original Michelin tyres with a ‘439’ date code indicating they were made in the 43rd week of 1999. From what we could see of the underside of the Swift it would appear to be good solid order.

THE MECHANICS

Mechanically the Swift started on the first turn of the key despite having not been used for a little while. It runs sweetly and idles smoothly with no discernible untoward noises to be heard while we were with the car. The gearbox would appear to operate well and overall the Swift appears to drive well from our short trip in the car.
Under the bonnet it would appear to be in original order right down to the battery which would appear to be its original item.

THE APPEAL

If you like your modern classics to be wholly original and unmolested then this Suzuki could well be for you. With a very low mileage, a fully stamped service history and just two keepers since it was a dealer demonstrator it really is in time warp condition.

It’s not the fastest or prettiest car that’s ever been made but represents machinery from a far simpler time that have almost been forgotten by the mainstream classic audience.

Given its overall condition it represents a great opportunity to get a foot on the modern classic ladder without breaking the bank.

Ammontare dell'offerta Incremento
Da £0 a £9,999 £100.00
Da £10,000 a £49,999 £250.00
Da £50,000 a £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Superamento immediato dell'offerta
