The first generations of the New Mini were watershed products that ushered in a new era of small, sporty premium cars. BMW did a great job resurrecting it, coupling their engineering expertise with retro styling cues taken from the original Mini, it was and remains a lovely little car with bags of character.
The facelift R50 model, which is what we have here, has a far better driving experience than its predecessor, in part thanks to the introduction of the Getrag-5-speed gearbox. Recently imported from the tiny island of Guernsey explains why this one has done relatively low mileage.
