Highlights
- In current ownership for 15 years
- Solid bodywork with no signs of rust
- Reliable classic Mercedes roadster
- Includes both soft and hard tops
The Appeal
The R107 is as well-reputed for its endurance as it is its pure class. In the '70s and '80s, Mercedes-Benz were amongst the best car manufacturers in the world, and their product range seemed practically bulletproof, with cars that just kept going. Of course, the super-stylish lines and rather luxurious cabin also made it an enormous hit in the US market.
This particular example has been in the same ownership for the past 15 years, and has clearly been pampered throughout - though the past few years have seen it largely kept garaged due to the vendor's health. This 420 SL presents an opportunity to acquire a solid example of Mercedes' iconic roadster that has been consistently maintained and preserved, ready and waiting to return to the road proper.

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
