The early MK 1 Golfs , particularily the GTI were a game changer for the car buying public. Occasionally a new concept comes along and the world perks up, think the early Range Rover , the first Toyota Prius or latterly the Tesla series 3. The Mk 1 Golf GTI started the hot hatch revolution , Peugeot followed and the rest is history.
Finding a genuine original "Ltd., Pirelli" version is nigh on impossible…. they are either restored to within an inch of their life and too good to drive or rot boxes. Our car is a true barn find, dry stored for the last 20 years and 1 previous owner.
This example has covered 61k miles and still retains original paint , panels and unmarked interior. The leather steering wheel tells a story of light use and all the factory stickers are intact.
Naturally there are blemishes due to the storeage process however finding a more original car will be very challenging. Cars that have been dismantled rarely drive with such integrity.
This car in the preferred Factory colour of LlASA Green sports a remarkable , nearly unmarked interior, the driver’s seat bolster is original and does not sag. The original Pirelli alloys still have the rare centres and sit on new branded tyres all round. We have carried out a sympathetic recommissioning over the past months to include; cam belt service , new Petrol tank and ancillaries and new or refurbished brakes. The car comes with a fresh MOT and drives like a modern car!
