This 1973 Lotus Elan +2S 130 is a really pretty sports coupe, finished in two-tone Lagoon Blue Metallic with a Silver Metal Flake roof, and 13-inch centrelock wheels.
The interior is lavishly trimmed in black leatherette with a walnut dash, chrome instrument bezels and electric windows. It’s a lot more luxurious than the standard two-seater Elan, in line with Colin Chapman’s requirement that the car “Must be capable of transporting two adults and two children 1000 miles in comfort with their luggage”. Being the later S 130 version, the car has the big-valve 1600cc Lotus Twin Cam engine, which produces 126bhp. In such a lightweight car, it ensures spritely performance.
The Lotus comes with a large history file, with invoices dating back to 2008, showing that the Lotus has been well maintained. There is too much work to detail here but, most recently, in 2015, the car was treated to a new ignition systems, new alternator, various electric issues sorted, and a number of other items attended to, at a cost of some £3000.
This is not a concours car, as the paintwork has some flaws here and there, but it’s a very presentable and useable classic car that could be enjoyed as-is, or taken to the next level by having the paintwork attended to. It is a car we are selling on behalf of of a customer.
