The Appeal
The MG SA was one of the most imposing cars to wear the octagonal badge. Launched in 1936 with a 2.3-litre straight-six and a four-speed manual gearbox, it represented MG's foray into the luxury saloon market, blending sporting character with refined touring ability. With fewer than 3,000 built, surviving examples are increasingly scarce and keenly sought by pre-war enthusiasts.
This 1937 example benefits from a body-off rebuild carried out approximately 25 years ago, for which photographic documentation is available, we are told. The work reportedly included a respray and interior refurbishment, and the vendor reports the paintwork remains in reasonable order for its age. The chassis is described as solid from front to rear, and the wire wheels are also noted to have been refurbished. On the mechanical side, the vendor notes that the cylinder head has been rebuilt and a custom-made high-torque starter has been fitted. image.png1.27 MB
