The Appeal
A very desirable and very collectable early British classic from Lagonda and one of only 122 convertibles ever produced.
The Lagonda combines style, luxury and sophistication with the convertible top adding that extra element of fun and sense of adventure to the driving experience, making it the perfect car for cruising down scenic routes or enjoying a leisurely drive on a sunny day.
The 2.6 litre straight-six engine featured duel overhead cams and went on to power the early Aston Martin DB series and the car was technologically advanced too for its day, having fully independent front and rear suspension with rack and pinion steering.
This one owner example remains in original condition and is reported to be mechanically sound, starting and driving well, though in need of some work to restore it to its former glory.

Acquired in 1951, the car is in good original condition throughout and does require some work now, though its rarity and desirability, should easily justify the time and effort required.
The Interior
- A luxuriously appointed cabin with plenty of wood and beige leather
- Interior shows plenty of wear and tear throughout the cabin but it is all complete and original
- The leather upholstery on the front seats has certainly seen a lot of action and is worn away in places
- The rear seats are better but are still worn
- The wood on the dashboard and door cappings, while not perfect, have fared very well and have a nice aged patina to them
- Original steering wheel and gear lever
- The interior of the hood has some staining but has no rips or tears and the charming two rear plastic windows are still nice and clear
- Door cards are all good
- Internal fittings and furniture are all present and in good condition
- All gauges and dials work
- Carpets are worn in places

The interior does need some work but everything is there and even in its worn state the cabin exudes a sense of luxury and is a wonderful example of a well-appointed luxury GT car from the early 50’s.
The Exterior
- Classic dark Green paintwork
- Chrome is all original and does show some light pitting in places
- Original wheels and hub-caps are all present in good condition and wear good tyres that have plenty of tread and show no signs of cracking
- Suicide doors
- The hood fits well and is free from any rips or tears
- Badges and external trim all present
- Front grill is showing signs of pitting and surface corrosion
- Engine bay looks clean and well maintained
- Underneath appears good, clean and solid
- Lights all work and are free from any cracks or damage
- Clean and dry boot area containing the spare wheel, original toolkit and jack
The car presents extremely well from a distance but as you get closer there are certainly areas that will require some attention, though the bodywork and panels are nice and straight there are many small dents, scuffs and scratches and various areas of half-hearted repairs made throughout its years.
Having been waxoyled and garaged all its life the underneath appears good and solid and to be fair, considering its age, the few areas on the bodywork that have some blistering paint are only to be expected in an unrestored car like this one.

Unfortunately there is no service history with the car but its general condition suggests that it has been well-cared for over the years and certainly the way it is reported to run and drive suggests that there are no major issues to be overly concerned about.
The Summary
A sought after and rare, one owner example of the luxury open-top GT from Lagonda that would benefit from some restoration work being done. It’s a car that epitomises classic motoring from the 50’s, that should prove a worthwhile investment for the future and be a very rewarding car to own and drive.
