The Appeal
The quintessential British roadster, the MGA combined lightweight agility with elegant styling to deliver an exciting driving experience. Under the long bonnet was a 1.6 litre four-banger pumping out 79 horses - not huge power but enough to propel the car up to 95mph.
With its steel body draped over an ash frame, the MGA was featherlight and nimble, eagerly attacking corners on its suspension of coil springs and lever shocks. The interior was as no-nonsense as it gets, focused purely on driving enjoyment.
This example has been in the Netherlands since 2016 and looks to be in lovely condition. What better way to enjoy the classic shows this summer?

The Interior

Climbing into an MGA is like taking a step back in time. You open the tiny lightweight door and drop yourself low into the snug bucket seat. Your legs extend out perfectly straight, feet positioned just right for the pedals.
Here, the red leather provides a great contrast to the white bodywork and dashboard and the drilled three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel helps to set the mood for driving. It’s all in lovely condition too, with the seats appearing barely sat in, fresh-looking carpets and MG branded rubber overmats.
Back in the boot, it’s all very clean and the full size spare is securely mounted. In all, it looks as if there has been a great deal of attention lavished on this car.
The Exterior

The elegant lines of the MGA are on full display in classic white. The long sloping hood stretches out in front, capped with a polished chrome grille surrounding the iconic MG badge. From every angle, the car exudes timeless British sports car styling.
The paintwork appears to be in very good order with only a few minor marks while the chrome looks very good indeed. Likewise the wire wheels which look to be very good all round. A shame though it is when weather spoils the fun, there is a removable black hood and side screens which, again, are in good condition should the need arise.
The Mechanics

Under the bonnet is a pristine engine bay and the underside looks just as fresh, too. This should be a joy to drive and easy to work on given the lack of rusted bolts!
