The Monark-Jawa 350/554 Type 962 is a fascinating piece of Cold War-era military hardware. Produced for the Swedish army as the military type 356A, these ski-equipped motorcycles were purpose-built for Scandinavian winter operations, combining rugged Swedish engineering with the proven mechanicals of the Czechoslovak Jawa marque. With only 1,000 examples produced, they are genuinely rare machines.

This 1963 example is reported to be in running condition and is fitted with electronic ignition. Its 344cc two-stroke air-cooled parallel-twin engine is noteworthy in its own right; the same engine type earned a strong reputation in international six-day enduro events. The motorcycle retains its ski attachment for snow driving, a defining feature of the Type 356A specification.
