Upgraded with Nissan 2.4L 155bhp KA24DE 16V engine
Only two UK keepers since 2014 with current one since 2015
Well presented, stylish and extremely rare Fairlady
Interesting and potent alternative to a British roadster
The Appeal
In the late 1950s, Datsun saw the success of Britain’s US roadster invasion and decided to get in on the act. The Fairlady really only hit its stride with Kazumasu Takagi’s pretty second generation car, launched in 1963. It was made over in 1964 by Count Albrecht Goertz, who would go on to style the first Nissan Z-car.
This well-kept red 1968 SPL311 benefits from those Goertz tweaks. It also contains a secret - beneath that long bonnet is a Nissan 2.4L 155bhp KA24DE 4cyl 16V engine, a common upgrade for these small roadsters that makes the most of their light weight.
The car arrived in the UK in 2014 and has been with its second and current keeper since 2015. It is in good condition inside and out with well kept paintwork and bright chrome. Much of its charm is that unless you raise the bonnet or clock the exhaust, it looks stock.
As an antidote to much more common ‘60s British roadsters, this potent Fairlady looks very tempting. image.png1.58 MB
