It was during the 1960s that Mercedes-Benz cemented its reputation for building the best-engineered cars in the world. From rakish convertibles like the W113 SL, to the formidable W100 600 Grosser, the Stuttgart manufacturer knew exactly how to make its cars better than anyone else's. This domination extended to the mid-size saloon market, with the accomplished W108. Designed by Paul Bracq, it served as the predecessor to the modern S-Class and featured powerful inline-six and V8 engines.

This 1968 example is a US-market left-hand drive car, imported to the UK with VAT and duty clearance confirmed by HMRC. The 280 SE previously resided in California, which has clearly preserved it exceedingly well. The underside has been photographed in detail for your inspection, and it must be said that this car appears very solid in the key check areas. 

The car will need to be road registered in the UK, and some recommissioning/sympathetic restoration work is to be expected. As the photographs attest, this is a great candidate for some care and investment.
