The Appeal
Straight lines, aggressive silhouettes, big thumping V8s and a sporty cabin - the Mustang wasn't just a fabulous American car. It was a pop culture icon that demanded the road made way, and demanded a dedicated driver. It was a fitting name for the motor - they had to be broken in and tamed, and never lost that wild, unpredictable nature when out on the freeway.
The Mustang continues to carry so much character, so much power and so much pure Americana that it might well be one of the most evocative cars on the planet. The pony car formula really did change the world, and it's still endlessly appealing - so turning it into a huge, slab-fronted convertible? That's pure California energy. Not something to be missed.
This particular car is exactly that - a GT Convertible, built at the Metuchen, New Jersey Plant for special export. Since it arrived in the UK, it's been very well-documented and cared for, and has been with its current keeper for nearly fifty years!
