The T100C was a sales success on both sides of the Atlantic and was revised for the 1967 model year with improved front suspension and frame rigidity, which helped the handling of the machine considerably over previous models. For 1969 there were numerous changes to the engine specification to improve reliability of what had become a much more powerful engine than the original 1957 version.
The Triumph 500cc twin was offered in 2 styles, a road going version and the on/off road version, the T100C, which had a smaller tank, high mounted twin exhaust pipes and a skid-plate to protect the underside of the engine, along with knobbly style tyres and wider handlebars.

The bike was manufactured in 1969 and exported to Triumph’s iconic west coast distributor – Johnson Motors. Famously, a young Steve McQueen bought one of his first motorcycle from Johnson, who introduced McQueen to Bud Ekins. Ekins would later double for McQueen in ‘The Great Escape’ and make the iconic jump over thea 12ft barbed -wire fence (on a Triumph twin).

The T100C has been kept as original as possible, only re-painting the tank to a high standard in a non-original colour and livery together with a slightly less bulky seat.
The 500cc twin presents itself extremely well on all fronts, having the gentle patina of age and use on a few of its components, which only adds to its classic character and charm.
The whole bike is in great overall condition with only a small scratch on the petrol tank but otherwise it looks superb.

The mechanics and the electrics have all been thoroughly renovated or rebuilt or replaced, with around £15,000 being spent throughout the restoration.
The engine has been completely rebuilt and balanced and features forged high strength con rods, new oil pump, new pistons, new valves and springs, with a lead-free valve seat conversion so it runs well on unleaded petrol.
Looking good with a slightly aged patina the bike is easy and a pleasure to ride making it a very useable classic and a very nice and collectable example of the Triumph T100C.
An excellent example of a classic British motorcycle ready to be enjoyed. As good if not better than new after no expense spared restoration. And, with the demand for these early British motorcycles continuing to grow, it probably makes for quite a shrewd investment too.
