The History and Paperwork
- Imported from dry-state Arizona in 2014 by VW Camper specialists Cool Campers in Bournemouth
- Went through an extensive restoration process including a full strip down and repaint
- Upholstery was retrimmed to the current owner’s specification by well-regarded vintage car specialists Totally Trimmed
- The current owner is the 1st registered keeper in the UK having acquired the vehicle from Cool Campers in 2015
- Receipt for engine replacement completed by VW specialists KFK in 2019
- V5C log book in the owner’s name is present
- The odometer which was put in on the build had 35000 miles on it and the owner has done 10000 miles over 7 years as documented by MOT certificates (pictured below)
After 7 years of coastal holidays and enjoyable trips to festivals, the owner has reluctantly taken the decision to part ways with her delightful T2 - named Pearl.
The Interior
- Retrimmed by Totally Trimmed in 2015 with beautiful blue plaid seats
- Interior is in fabulous condition overall with only minor wear to the flooring and a few very small marks on the seats the only real signs of use
- Amenities include working sink, gas hob, fridge plus rock and roll bed
- Technically a 4 berth, the pop-up top features a bed suitable for small children
- Leisure battery, rear seat belts and electrical hookup complete the excellent specification
- All dials, gauges and switches as well as the modern radio function correctly
- Headlining is clean and secure, with the pop-up top in good condition though it does have some light patches of mould
The current owner rates the interior as close to being a 10/10 for condition, having specifically chosen the finishings to not only reflect life in the 1970s but also be hardwearing and usable during camping trips.
Covers are always used to protect the upholstery from the sun when not in use and the door cards, headlining and dashboard are all in excellent shape.
All features are said to be functioning correctly, although the heater can be a bit patchy from time to time, a common feature of this era of VW.
The Exterior
- Exterior was professionally stripped and repainted when imported in 2015
- Gorgeous Chianti Red paintwork - an original VW colour - is therefore in excellent order
- Bodywork bears no significant damage with all panels straight, true and free from dents
- Underside is said to be clean and solid with no known evidence of prior repairs or welding
- Badges, mirrors, lights and trim pieces are all very nice
- Wheels (including the spare) in good condition and all tyres have plenty of life left in them - the two rears were replaced last year

The Mechanics
- Fully reconditioned 1.6-litre engine was replaced in 2019 by VW specialists KFK, and has covered less than 2,000 miles since then
- Runs like a dream, sounds lovely and accelerates as well as an original spec T2 camper can
- No leaks or smoke from the engine bay which is very clean and tidy
- Gearbox functions correctly, changing gears as it should without issue
- Handles as it should do, exhibiting a comfortable ride and good braking performance
- Serviced every year since being imported in 2015 by specialist independent garages
- No known mechanical faults
