The Appeal
The R107 was built to conquer America, to thrive on the nation’s long distance freeways. For that European buyers can be very glad, because it meant this car - the big 450SL with its meaty 4.5L V8.
Handsome, robust, comfortable and spacious, a good R107 makes a great touring car, particularly in V8 form. Enthusiasts are increasingly draw to the purer lines of the early cars, like this one. It adds a very stylish specification to those aesthetics that combines Tobacco brown paintwork with a tan leather cabin and ivory roof.
