The Appeal
The Silver Shadow was one of the most important vehicles ever produced by Rolls-Royce. The epitome of luxury at the time of its release in 1965, the Silver Shadow was in production for 15 years until 1980. Recognised for bringing Rolls-Royce into the modern era, it featured unitary construction, disc brakes and independent rear suspension. In February 1977, the updated Silver Shadow II was introduced. The most notable mechanical improvements were to the steering and modifications to the front suspension which dramatically improved the handling.
Built in 1979 this lovely example has been well cared for and has been professionally repainted in its original colours of Chestnut Brown and Honey a combination that now looks so right for a Rolls Royce of the period! The interior is in superb order and appears to be mostly original and as it was delivered. Purchased by the seller in June 2022 he has carried out some maintenance and work to the suspension. He tells us that it drives superbly, and we followed it on our way to the photo venue. It certainly has plenty of power, and we were pleasantly surprised that there was no smoke, even under acceleration. Reluctantly he has decided to sell as he has too many cars and a new project underway that needs the space.

Summary
Shadows are finally being recognised for their superb engineering, comfortable ride quality (even on today’s roads!) and are still excellent value. This one is in lovely condition with good history and an excellent colour combination.
