The Appeal
A set of stylish five spoke Pentas first draw the eye on this handsome 1980 Lapis Blue 380SL. They add an extra touch of drama and poise to this well kept car that we definitely approve of.
Beyond those rims, this is a very well kept R107. The current keeper bought it in 2007 and is only reluctantly selling due to a change of circumstances. He has kept the mileage low for the year and amassed an impressive folder of ongoing maintenance. Highlights include a full respray in the original colour in 2021. The water pump, thermostat and housing, fan belts, exhaust system from the manifolds and auxiliary air shuttle valve have all been replaced.
The car is said to start and run well with no faults. It is an indication of the seller’s approach that he subjected the car to a recently voluntary MOT so that buyers have transparency about the car’s condition. It passed with no structural advisories and only one very minor point to note likely due to lack of recent use. There are some minor points to note, but nothing that would prevent you jumping in and enjoying this characterful V8-engined cruiser.
The vendor says:
“The car looks good and is a head turner. At 45 years old it could be improved but it is a great usable classic that I have enjoyed for a long time. I am only selling because it is now a challenge to get in and out of for me.”
